The X Table is a sculptural furniture concept I started experimenting with in 2015, centered on the idea of legs that cross over to meet the floor at the edges, instead of the corners. I like the way the industrial look of the diamond plate steel interacts with the slabs of richly colored wood.
Each slab of lovingly polished wood is made from meticulously selected boards, chosen for their grain patterns and natural features. The steel is industrial scrap, plasma cut and TIG welded, with graceful curves executed by torch-heating and hand bending.
